After finishing in fourth place on Wednesday, Chad would line up in the 3rd position for the start of Thursday’s race. With a slight adjustment made to the groove of the tires Chad was confident that this run would be even better. On the first lap, Chad got passed by fellow Kumho Tire sponsored Ricky Johnson. After a getting settled in, Chad began to work his way to the front, charging his BOSS Snowplow, AMSOIL #9 around the track at a demanding pace, passing both Mike Oberg and Jeremy McGrath. Chad quickly started reeling in Ricky Johnson who had gotten an early lead. They began to pull away from the field until the mandatory caution bunched them back together.
